Pilot Daily Roster Verification Using APSCN/SMS Attendance Process

The project will include:
  • Development of a process to pull student attendance and roster verification data from the common local student management system
  • Pilot daily roster validation (as an extension of the existing local attendance process*)
  • Pilot a process/technology for electronic movement of student transcript/profile records (school district-to-school district)
  • Pilot a process for event-based certification of teacher of record data leveraging capability developed under the related TSDL project "Local Data Warehouse with Data Use and Roster Validation Support Tools” and roster verification tool being developed with other states.

*As part of the planned project funded by a State Longitudinal Data Systems (SLDS) / IES Grant Program, Arkansas will upgrade its common student management system (SMS) currently used by all except two LEAs in the state. This project will leverage the SMS upgrade to support the teacher-student data link initiative by ensuring that the upgraded system supports multiple educators per class and the daily roster verification process.
This project will pilot the collection of longitudinal and atomic data reflecting the teacher-student data link on a daily basis using the existing attendance process. Through this method, it is expected that changes to student rosters and teacher assignments will be captured at a fine grain to support future uses of the teacher-student link.
